So Who are we all and What do we do!!!!

Lynn - The Owner of Flutterby Crafts,  Lynn has a Passion for all things Crafty, the amount of time and dedication she puts into the running of the shop is phenominal.

Lynn - "I have crafted in one way or another for as far back as I can remember.  My Mum taught me to sew and knit, I don't think any clothes were ever brought during my childhood - we made everything ourselves.  I learnt to crochet at school, I remember it was the fashion for us all to crochet blankets for our beds!  Since then I have enjoyed doing all sorts - especially when the Kids were growing up.  I started card making when my darling husband (God bless him!) volunteered me to make his sisters wedding invitations. The shop came about because I was extremely frustrated at the lack of crafting help that there was in the Newbury area and I found myself constantly driving back to my parents in Essex purely to feed my paper addiction - they did not mind, it meant they saw more of me, but I got fed up with the driving.  Of course, now we cover more than just card making and who knows were we will go in the future (especially if I every win the lottery!).  Through the shop I have met masses of lovely people and made some wonderful friends.  I would  not change a thing.

Nicky -  You will Most probably recognise Nicky from your visits to the shop. She can be found on hand to help and advise in all your craft purchases, within the papercraft shop.  As well as her role in the shop Nicky teaches the cardmaking and papercrafting workshops held regularly.  Nicky has a firm knowledge of stamping and all the techniques involved.  Nicky has even been the creator of the designs for Our "In House" range of rubber stamps. So look out for Nicky Haydens Designs.

Ruth - Again one of our main members of staff on hand to help and advise within the beading/ jewellery shop.  Ruth has another  string to her bow as our Childrens Workshop Tutor as well as organising the Childrens Crafting Birthday Parties. Formally a Teacher Ruth excels in this position.

Ruth - " I remember learning to knit at my mothers' knee at the age of 4.  I was a very young aunt and was knitting baby cardigans before the age of 10!  Now I am interested in anything that involves a needle - sewing dolls clothes, cross stitch, embroidery, beading, crochet ...........   Jewellery making and beading  are a recently acquired interest and mainly self taught from reading books and magazines.  As a retired P.S teacher I enjoy with children ( + adults too) to pass on any skills that I have acquired through the years.  At Flutterbys I am involved in workshops and parties for children as well as an occasional beading workshop with the adults (when I have mastered the design myself)!!  I am the envy of many customers as I do my ideal retirement job, which mostly involves playing with beads!!!"

Catherine - As well as advising in both of the shops; and helping Ruth on occasions with the children Catherine is about to be launched as our Wedding Co-ordinator, she will be on hand to help take the stress out of Wedding Stationary Design for all those that would like the personal touch and make their own invitations and accessories.

Anne - Keeps us on our toes and keeps the shop tidy, she can be found within either shop whenever you need help.

Karen - Karen works mainly behind the scenes, clearing the decks in the workshop area and Staff area, Making us all the best cups of tea and coffee. (She is the Most important person).

Katie - Katie is borrowed from her proper job, Coming in to teach the jewellery workshops, providing a fun, fresh approach to all things beady.

Pamela - Pamela also comes into teach our ever popular scrapbooking classes.

Tracy - That would be me then.  I met the wonderful staff at Flutterby through Trimcraft.  I am a Freelance demonstrator and Craft Tutor, you have probably seen me about the place. I am now the author of Flutterbys blog and the general up keeper of the website.

Tracy - " Like Ruth, I was taught to knit and sew at a young age, but my grandmas taught me - unfortunately the craft bug skipped a generation and missed my mum completely she does not get IT!!! ( still love her though).  I then went onto teach myself sewing and crochet.  I have also dabbled in cross stitch, embroidery, silk and glass painting, sugarcraft, watercolours, Oh my word ! I am a total craft addict!  I trained to be an NNEB (nursery nurse) My displays with the children were my pride and joy.  Then in 2001 my husband had a bad accident at work, staying at home to look after him, i discovered a new hobby, card making.  I went to my local craft shop, saw a demonstration by Mr Smoothie - Graham Hansford and got totally hooked on stamping. From there the shop employed me at the same time as starting to work for Trimcraft. Now I work for several companies as a freelance Demonstrator."
